This is Bullshit

I know, I know. I live in Minnesota. But is it too much to ask that the snow hold off until at least November? I mean, the Halloween Blizzard of '91 was pretty awesome, but snow on October 12 is so not awesome. Everyone is asking questions like, "Has it ever snowed this early in MN?" (Answer - yes, it has snowed here in September) and "Will our winter be really cold and snowy since we have already had our first snow?" (Answer - every winter in MN is cold and snowy, dumbass). But here's the real question: Who gives a shit? Ask all the questions you want, slice it up any way you want; the result is the same. This sucks. My outdoor Halloween decorations don't have the same scare-factor when they are covered in snow. The scarecrow in my back yard doesn't look evil as much as he looks cold:

Marcus the Carcass no longer looks like he's coming out of the ground to haunt you. He looks like some bratty kid buried him in the snow and he's screaming from the pain of hypothermia:

So not cool, man. And it wouldn't be that big of a deal if it had just snowed, warmed up, and melted. No, this crap is going to hang on all week because the temps are barely making it above freezing.

The other sad part is what it is doing to fall. The leaves just started turning an array of beautiful colors. The trees with green leaves are losing their leaves in clumps. It's strange and disheartening to see a bunch of green leaves on the ground with snow around them, although my dog didn't seem to mind:

Add to this mess the fact that we're in the process of building The Biggest Retaining Wall in the World at our cabin which is so much more difficult when the effing BLOCK is frozen together. Sigh. "They" (meaning the ever-so-wrong meteorologists) are saying 50- and 60-degree temps for this weekend, so I'm hopeful that this snow will melt. I am pleading with Mother Nature to keep any more snow away until November. Scarecrow & Marcus would certainly appreciate it.

That BLOWS, dude. But your dog is so cute in her red coat!!!!! Sparta has a red coat, too, and he absolutely loves wearing it. Little dogs in clothes = barf, but big dogs in coats = SO CUTE!!!

I'm so sorry but I'm cracking up! My kids camp every summer in MN and they come back home with the biggest, scariest looking mosquito bites ever. And then in the winter (we have family there) we come close to literally freezing to death. And that's the cutest dog.
