Clint Got Screwed

Oscar nominations were announced yesterday and "Gran Torino" was snubbed. What the hell? Can someone please explain to me how "The Reader" received a nomination for Best Picture over "Gran Torino?" I mean, if Kate Winslet's character would have just admitted she couldn't read or write, she wouldn't have gone to jail in the first place. End of story. BORING!

I think I know why the members of the writers guild turned their backs on Eastwood's flick, and it's really too bad they completely missed the point of the movie. I don't think this was the Movie Of The Year or anything, but it certainly deserved a nomination in at least one of the major categories.

In case you haven't heard, in addition to "The Reader," here are the other movies up for Best Picture:
  • "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"
  • "Milk"
  • "Frost/Nixon"
  • "Doubt"
  • "Slumdog Millionaire"

I'm disappointed that "Dark Knight" didn't get a nomination in the Best Picture category but at least Heath was tossed in for Best Supporting Actor. It's really too bad he quit us...I think he really found his niche with that movie. But, alas, all the good ones never stick around.

Well I know what I'll be doing February 22: I'll be glued to the TV. I don't know why I'm such a spaz about the Academy Awards, but I love it. And really, with Hugh Jackman hosting how can you go wrong?
